• Applicants must be current high school students completing their 11th grade year and enrolled in an educational system governed by the laws of the State of California.
  • There is NO requirement for a minimum GPA, and we do NOT request school transcripts from applicants.
  • Participating adults have all completed the Rotary District 5170 Youth Protection program and are aware of youth safety requirements.
  • Students are selected for ELC through a competitive application process and spaces are limited. Selected students should reply as soon as possible to confirm their commitment to attend or release their spot to another student.
  • Students and a parent or guardian MUST ATTEND one of two Orientation Sessions, typically held in the early evening on a weekday. This is an opportunity to meet your teammates, Rotary Team Advisors (RTAs), and other ELC participants, and to ask any questions you may have. At the orientation, you will submit a completed Student & Parent/Guardian Signature Form.
  • All student attendees are provided bus transportation to/from the Asilomar Conference location.
  • If any parent wishes to attend the last day event of team presentations, they will NOT be permitted to leave the event with their student. Students are required to travel (to/from) on the supplied buses.
  • Prior to and following the conference, students will be expected to complete anonymous online surveys, which should take less than 15 minutes each. The first survey will be used to gather information that will be shared with all of the students as part of the curricula. The second will be used to adjust the curricula according to student responses.
  • Students are expected to attend and arrive on time to all scheduled sessions with their team. You must notify your RTA in advance of any and all expected absences.
  • Once the conference starts at Asilomar, students are expected to remain on campus.
  • Asilomar room assignments are made based on gender. (male/female)
  • Our Rotary security team monitors Asilomar room assignments 24/7. Any violation could result in a call to parents for immediate student pickup.
  • Conference participants are expected to conduct themselves in a fashion that brings credit to themselves, their school, and their parents. Violation of the expectations listed above may result in immediate removal from the program.
